A Chatsworth man died Thursday afternoon in Calhoun when the truck he was trying to repair rolled over him, according to Calhoun City Police.

According to Bo Nicholson, Gordon County deputy coroner:

Charles Ray Bagley, 54, was driving a truck for Bailey Lift Company in Calhoun around 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, when his truck experienced a brake malfunction near Marine Drive.

Bagley then stopped in the nearby parking lot of Mohawk Industries and got out of the vehicle to repair the brake problem.

When the man was able to free up the brakes, the truck was still in gear and rolled over him.

Nicholson said Bagley was pronounced dead on scene from injuries due to the accident

Tony Pyle, CPD information officer, said all indications point to a “traffic accident,” and the Calhoun Police Department Traffic Unit will be investigating the incident.

Mr. Ray was a very sweet man that we've known for years. Terrible tragedy...God bless his family.
