Bartow County deputies arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery and assault at a Cartersville hotel Saturday night, according to reports from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the reports:

Two men wearing ski masks kicked open a door at the Budget Host Inn, 851 Cass-White Road, around 9 p.m. and asked the five occupants “Where are the pills?”

When the occupants told them they didn’t have any pills, one of the robbers grabbed a man, threw him against the wall and put a gun to his head.

The robbers asked for all their money

The victims told the robbers that the police were in the next room and they ran.

One of the victims ran after them and one of the robbers turned around and fired a shot.

Deputies found two men on Carson Loop near America’s Best Inn shortly after the robbery and detained them.

One of the offenders had a ski mask, a large plastic bag of seven zip ties, a handgun magazine with five bullets, a pair of batting gloves and $681.

The second suspect had a wallet, a light and a pack of cigarettes. Police found a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun near where the second suspect was detained.

Police found another ski mask and glove.

Arrested were Marcellous Jamarr Matticx, 21, of 129 Amberwood Lane, Kingston, and Anthony Lee Scorpio, 26, of 51 Valley View Drive, Cartersville.

They are charged with five counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm or knife while committing crimes, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, felony cruelty to children, wearing a mask that conceals the identity of the wearer and three counts of armed robbery.

Both men remain in the Bartow County Jail on Sunday.
