Woman charged with DUI after two children injured in wreck

A Floyd County woman was arrested and charged with DUI after a wreck in which her two children were injured.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jennifer Lynn Carter, 32, of 143 Reeceburg Rd. was arrested on Reeceburg Road early Thursday after being involved in a wreck with her 10-year-old and 12-year-old children.

She is charged with two counts of felony cruelty to children in the second degree and felony possession of drugs.

Misdemeanor charges include two counts of DUI child endangerment, DUI, failure to maintain lane, driving too fast for conditions, drugs to be kept in original container, and child restraint.

The vehicle she was driving crossed the double yellow line and then flipped after leaving the roadway. Her 12 year old child was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt.

Both children had multiple visible injuries and were taken to Floyd Medical Center by ambulance.
