This year was marked by an end zone of excellence and playoff berths for the Gordon Central Warriors and the Calhoun Yellow Jackets. The Warriors made the playoffs for the first time since 2005, and the Calhoun Yellow Jackets won their second state championship, the first since 1952.

Now awards and accolades are being handed out, and it’s no shocker that Gordon Central’s Tyshaun Clemmons and Calhoun’s Taylor Lamb are receiving recognition for their stellar performances during the 2011 football season. Both Clemmons and Lamb have been selected to participate in the 2011 AT&T Junior Bowl at Grady Stadium in Atlanta on Dec. 30 at 7 p.m.

Calhoun Head Football Coach Hal Lamb said that he is proud of Taylor Lamb and that he is highly deserving of this honor.

“We are very happy for Taylor and is very well deserving because he had a phenomenal year,” said Lamb.

As for Gordon Central Head Football Coach, Chad Fisher, he feels the same towards Tyshaun Clemmons.

“It’s a great opportunity for him,” said Fisher. “He is a well deserving young man to be picked to play in this game; his efforts and hard work are paying off.”

ESPN 3 will live stream the game beginning at 7 p.m.
