City police have arrested and charged two people in connection with illegal gambling operations in Calhoun.

According to Calhoun City Police Information Officer Lt. Tony Pyle:

The police department searched Calhoun Amusement Center and Calhoun Billiards late Wednesday night after undercover agents previously found that both businesses were engaged in illegal gambling activities.

It was during the search that police arrested Marshall Summers, 41, of Waterloo Dr. in Dalton and Billy Wilson, 52, of Landon Ct. in Calhoun.

Summers, owner of Calhoun Billiards, was charged with commercial gambling, keeping a gambling place and gambling devices. Wilson, an employee of Calhoun Billiards was charged with commercial gambling.

Police seized nine gaming machines from each location. Pyle said these machines are believed to have been used for gambling purposes.

Police are expecting more arrests to follow as the investigation continues.

Yep, calhoun is still in the ice ages. Like everything else, Uncle sam wants to be boss again, tell us what we can and cannot do with our own money. He wants his cut! Whats the difference in these machines in a Billiards hall, and being in the Elks club and Moose lodge as someone previously posted? Next, Calhoun will go after people who try to win Publisher's Clearing House money...Another gamble to win!!! My mother better watch out!

It is past time to remove the restrictions on gambling in Georgia. Spare me the arguments about starving and destitute children in the streets because Mommy or Daddy gambled away the rent money. The state lottery has proved that argument false. Furthermore, I am reasonably certain one cannot use an EBT card in a video poker machine.

Why are the people being arrested? You have the same gambling machines at the Elk's club and the Moose Lodge and nothings ever been done about it?

I'm preety sure you know the man who supplies the machines too.

The Elks are just some good ol' boys trying to have a good time whereas this place is frequented by brown people. Clear difference.

That's good ol Calhoun for ya. Take the smiles off your face when you cross into the city limits or you will be prosecuted for too much excitement.
