Fired Up to feed the hungry

Fired Up Food Drive: 30,000 cans

The recent Fired Up Food Drive brought in more than 30,000 canned food items from both school systems combined. Calhoun City Schools total came in at 24,200, while Gordon County Schools contributed 10,750.

The breakdown of city schools:

  • 1st place: Calhoun Elementary with 6,913

  • 2nd place: Calhoun High with 6,128

  • 3rd place: Calhoun Middle with 4,868

  • Calhoun Primary with 4,200

  • Calhoun Pre-K with 229

    School wide total: 22,338, with 1,862 collected at the fire stations.

    The school systems wish to thank all those who donated for all the great effort to feed Gordon county families in need.

    Red Bud collects more than 4,000 cans

    Christina Cote and her 5th grade class brought in the most cans at Red Bud Elementary as part of the Fired Up Food Drive in Gordon County.

    Red Bud collected a total of 4,200 cans and non-perishable food items that were donated to the Voluntary Action Center in Calhoun.
