Sonoraville High School

Thirty Future Business Leaders of America members, one adviser and two chaperones from Sonoraville High School traveled to Perry, Ga. on Oct. 13, to attend a motivational rally and leadership conference with more than 7,500 additional FBLA members from across the State of Georgia. National competitors and winners were recognized at the beginning of the Rally.

SHS student Collin Stoner was in the national parade of students. He was recognized for competing this summer in the area of management information systems at the National Leadership Conference. Kailey Vaughn, local SHS president, was installed as the SHS local president, at which time, she affirmed that she would accept and carry out all of the necessary duties as president.

Eddie Slowikowski was the keynote speaker for the Rally. His discussion encouraged and energized the crowd with his discussion and the activities that the crowd participated in.

Slowikowski concluded his speech with a rendition of numerous songs through out the years and communicated them through dance.

Students from SHS FBLA competed in a poster competition, report and tri-fold presentation board where Georgia’s business industry was spotlighted, as well as the Georgia FBLA state theme “Dive In.”

The chapter also entered their club t-shirt into the design competition. Individual members and teams also competed in business related subjects. Results will be announced in November in Athens, Ga. at the Fall Leadership Conference of the chapters and individuals who excelled in these competitions.

At the conclusion of the rally in Perry, FBLA members were allowed to participate in the fair activities. Students had the experience of having dinner and playing at Dave and Busters in Marietta on the way home to Calhoun.

Gordon Central High School

Fifteen members from the Gordon Central High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently attended an FBLA Motivational Rally at the Georgia State National Fair in Perry, Ga.

This fun activity, sponsored by FBLA-PBL, was the largest FBLA conference in the state of Georgia, with more than 7,500 members in attendance. FBLA members heard a great motivational speaker telling them how to become their best by discovering who they are and where they came from. He captured the students’ attention by his song and dance act through the different aspects of his life.

After the speaker, the students were able to compete in various tests. The winners will be announced at the Fall Leadership Conference in Athens, Georgia, on Nov. 11.

The group also enjoyed an evening at Dave and Buster’s Eat and Play while traveling back to Calhoun. Those attending were Sheila Yarbrough, FBLA advisor, Jesse Orozco, Toby Nguyen, CarolAnne Esslinger, Beth Walker, Robert Howey, Tyler Nguyen, Timothy Matzke, Ashley Williams, Catie Worsham, Haley Cunningham, Taylor Garrett, Victoria Williams, Summer Hamilton and Meagan Williams.
