• Gordon Hospital is hosting a free diabetes screening Wednesday, November 2, from 8–10 a.m. While the screenings are free, registration is required as space is limited. Call 706-602-7800, ext. 2305 to register. The event will include a free finger stick blood sugar screening. For the most accurate results, do not eat or drink anything after midnight prior to the screening. Refreshments will be provided to participants following their screenings.

• The Voluntary Action Center is hosting the Community Kitchen today, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Anyone who lives in Gordon County is encouraged to come eat the free meal at the VAC location next to the VAC Thrift Store. Donations are accepted.

• The Harris Arts Center offers Stretch and Breathe yoga Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. The class takes place in the upstairs community room and is for those with some degree of flexibility. The emphasis is on core strengthening, increased flexibility and proper breathing for health. The Yin and Yang yoga, Hatha flow and Kundalini philosophy are taught during class.
