• The Highland Rivers Community Service Board will meet Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Highland Rivers Gordon County Mental Health Center located at 320 N. River Street in Calhoun. The Finance and Corporate Compliance Committees will meet at 9 a.m. Highland Rivers Center offers comprehensive treatment and support services for adults and children affected by mental health disorders, developmental disabilities and addictive diseases. The agency serves the counties of Bartow, Cherokee, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, and Whitfield, and provides addictive disease services for citizens of Haralson County. • Gordon County Republican Party will have its monthly meeting, Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Calhoun Depot, 109 South King Street, Calhoun. Featured speakers are Gordon County Commission Chairman, Judy Bailey who will speak on the upcoming County SPLOST initiative and State Representative John Meadows on the implications of the congressional, state senate and state representative reapportionment. • The Calhoun Pregnancy Center Inc. offers free pregnancy tests and counseling regarding abortion, development of the baby, and sexual purity and also helps with maternity and baby clothes, diapers and baby care products, and even some baby furniture when available. The center is open Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m. Calhoun Pregnancy Center is a Christian ministry dedicated to the sanctity of all human life. To make an appointment, call 706-625-5768. • Overcomers Outreach is forming a new group to meet every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Resaca Church of God, U.S. 41 North.
