The Warrior boys shot a team score of 201, tying North Whitfield, but then won the tiebreaker.
Seth Culpepper led Ashworth with a low medalist round of 48 over nine holes. Also carding scores were Jonathon Nesbitt (50), Turner Seymore (51), and Mason Miles (52).
The tiebreaker was decided by the “fifth man” score, which for the Warriors was a tie between Stanton Walker and Isaac Carter, who both carded 60’s.
In the girls’ match, Ashworth’s win came a little easier as the Lady Warriors outshot North Whitfield 107-118.
Teagan Lovingood was the low medalist with a personal best nine hole score of 49. Tori Hopper rounded out the team scoring with a 58.
Also competing for Ashworth were Kayla Holcomb (60) and Peyton Robinson (61).
“It was great to see the girls coming through with good scores,” said AMS coach Melanie Moore. “We have known they were capable but just waited on the breakthrough.”
