• GEM Theatre in Calhoun will host Dance Party with the Buckner Brothers & Rockingbirds Bands at 7p.m.
• “Chalk It Up,” in recognition of National Suicide Prevention month, will take place Satur-day, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon at BB&T Park in downtown Calhoun. Come to the park and draw a picture, write a message, send out a prayer or make a memory for someone affected by suicide. Sidewalk chalk will be provided. Mental health professionals will be on hand and available to talk with individuals to provide free information and resource literature.
• The Friends of the Vann House will sponsor a special “blacksmith as a toolmaker” seminar at the Vann House Saturday, Sept. 17. Master blacksmith Max Williams, who has demon-strated his skills during Vann House Days for several years, will share his knowledge with participants during this unique workshop. Class will start at 8:30 a.m. and last until 4 p.m. The cost of the class, including materials, is $45 and space is limited to 30 students. Students must be at least 14 years of age to participate.
