New Echota Historic Site is open on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can learn about the Cherokee and local history of New Echota, as well as see a dozen of the original reconstructed buildings, including the Council House, smoke house, barns and more. New Echota is located at I-75 exit 317, 1211 Chatsworth Hwy 225 N, Calhoun GA 30701. For more information, call 706-624-1321.

• The Art Plein Air Display exhibit is currently showing at the Harris Art Center in Calhoun. The works of 39 artists who paint on location. The exhibit will be on display until September 9th.
