Middle School: Sonoraville softball takes down Cartersville 10-5.

The Sonoraville Middle School Lady Phoenix softball team kicked off the 2011 season with a 10-5 victory over Cartersville Saturday morning.

Sonoraville took a 2-1 lead after the first inning and then exploded in the second, pushing six runs across the plate.

The Lady Phoenix led 8-2 after the the top of the second, but Cartersville put two runs on the board in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 8-4.

Sonoraville finished off their scoring with two runs in the fourth inning and Cartersville would add one more in the bottom of the fourth.

Thaley Jackson picked up the win for the Lady Phoenix. She had two strikeouts.

Savannah Roberts, Kendall Bowman, and Abby Connally each performed well at the plate for Sonoraville.

“This was an awesome way to start the season off for SMS,” said coach Brianne White.
