Gordon Hospital is pleased to welcome three new physicians to the community and to its active medical staff.

According to hospital officials, the three new physicians are Dr. Andrew Hester, MD, Joseph P. Johnson, MD, and Joy A. Nwadike, MD.

“As our community continues to grow, so does our need for quality physicians,” says Pete Weber, president and CEO of Gordon Hospital. “We are very blessed that Drs. Hester, Johnson, and Nwadike have chosen to practice here. Please join us in welcoming them to our community and into our hospital family.”

Dr. Hester, who grew up in Cartersville, has joined NWGA Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, located on the Gordon Hospital campus at 106 Hospital Court. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, graduating with Highest Honors, and completed his internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Tennessee, Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Dr. Hester is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians and a Candidate Member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Johnson recently joined Owasa Family Medicine, located at 109 Hospital Drive. A graduate of Florida International University, Dr. Johnson received his medical degree from the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami. Her completed his internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and performed his residency at Womack Army Medical Center.

Prior to joining Owasa, Dr. Johnson served as Officer in Charge and Medical Director of a clinic at Ft. McPherson, GA serving the military medical readiness needs of approximately 8,000 active duty and reserve soldiers.

Dr. Nwadike, who recently joined Northwest Georgia OB/GYN, located at 170 Curtis Parkway, is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a graduate of Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta and completed her residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. From 2006 until recently, she was the solo physician in practice at Immanuel Women's Center, LLC in Chatsworth, Ga.

In 2007, Dr. Nwadike received the prestigious Excellence in Medicine from the Medical Association of Georgia's Physician Institute for Excellence in Medicine. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
