• There will be an Alzheimer’s support group meeting Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m. at Morning Pointe Assisted Living of Calhoun, located at 660 Jolly Rd NW Calhoun. Group facilitator: Derek Dickard, executive director of Morning Pointe. Guest speaker: Allen Padgett, South-east Search and Rescue Associates. Topic: Families caring for family members at home with Alzheimer’s - “How to Prevent Your Loved One from Wandering – What to do When it Hap-pens.”
• The Calhoun Pregnancy Center Inc. offers free pregnancy tests and counseling regarding abortion, development of the baby, and sexual purity and also helps with maternity and baby clothes, diapers and baby care products, and even some baby furniture when available. The center is open Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m. Calhoun Pregnancy Center is a Christian ministry dedicated to the sanctity of all human life. To make an appointment, call 706-625-5768. Walk-ins are also welcome. The pregnancy help center is located at the four-way stop on Peters Street.
• Gordon County Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to take part in our fitness program. All classes are held at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex in the Fitness Center and are held on a continuous, month to month basis. Strength Training - Tuesday, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Instructor: Petrina Pritchett/ Tonya Wilbanks. Fee Structure: Memberships are $20 per month to access all aerobic classes. Use of the weight room is $20 per month. To use weight room and access all aerobic classes the cost is $30 per month. No contract; paid on a month to month basis.
• Fit Club workouts take place Tuesdays from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at the Calhoun Recreation Department. Workouts include: P90X, Insanity and TuboFire. All fitness levels are welcome; classes are free. Free refreshments will be served.
