The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Georgia Mountains Match of the Month is David Park and Dalton, the child he mentors through the organization.
David, an accountant for Beaulieu Group, became involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a way to help others.
“United Way did a presentation at my office building, and I was moved to do something more. I didn’t want to just give money,” he said. “Plus, it gives me something to look forward to each week, and it gives me responsibility to help someone in need.”
David and Dalton enjoy spending time outdoors. When asked about their favorite activity that they have done together, both David and Dalton answered, “Fishing!”
“We never know what we are going to catch!” added Dalton.
The pair worked on a wood project together recently, and they frequent agency-sponsored events such as last week’s trip to Lake Winnie.
“What I enjoy most about having a Big Brother is that when I am with him, I feel safe and protected,” said Dalton, “Having a Big Brother has helped me gain more self-control and more trust of people. And, we have lots of fun.”
David said, “When you give of yourself for someone else, you grow into a better person.”
