Synthetic marijuana found in pocket of man charged with prowling

A Silver Creek man has been charged a felony after police say they found synthetic marijuana in his pocket while he was prowling around on the 600 Block of Preacher Smith Road, reports.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Matthew Ross Helm, 19, of 14 Woodberry Drive, Silver Creek, was going up to houses on the 600 block of Preacher Smith Road Monday night, July 25, when police questioned him.

Helm initially tried to resist police and run. Upon search of his person officers found synthetic marijuana in his pocket.

He is charged with misdemeanor loitering and prowling, obstruction or hindering law enforcement and felony possession of synthetic marijuana.

Helm remained in jail Tuesday morning.

Wow, unbelieveable... You can go to a convience store and buy synthetic marijuana and pipes, yet you get arrested and charged for it...

So, "synthetic" or fake marijuana constitutes a felony, and the real thing is a misdemeanor?? Yeah, that makes sense.

Just legalize and tax it.
