Police release video of alleged Sears theft in Rome

Police have released video of three suspects involved in the theft around $13,000 from the Sears store on Martha Berry Highway Sunday.

Det. Jeff Richerson with the Rome Police Department said police are looking for two females and one male involved in the robbery.

Around $13,000 in cash was taken from the safe room inside Sears, Richerson said.

The video shows all three people walking in to the store and then later shows the man pry open the door to the safe room and steal the cash.

The man is described as a black male in his late 40’s or early 50’s. He was around 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was seen wearing a hat and Hawaiian shirt.

One of the female suspects was described at a light skinned black woman around 35 years old, around 5 feet, 5 inches tall.

The third suspect is described as short a middle-aged black woman around 40 years old.

Richerson said he suspects the trio had pulled off this type of crime in the past.

“He know what he’s doing and that hat he has on concealed his face from the cameras,” Richerson said.
