Qualifying for local elections will begin Monday, Aug. 29 and run through Friday, Sept. 2 for municipal elections in Calhoun, Fairmount, Resaca, and Plainville. Although Gordon County has a SPLOST election on the ballet, no commissioners are up for re-election this cycle. Qualifying for all positions will be at their respective town halls from 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29 through 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2.

Calhoun

In Calhoun, the Mayor’s post, currently held by Jimmy Palmer, Post One, held by George Crowley, and Post Two, held by Al Edwards will be on the ballot. Also in Calhoun, School Board Posts Four and Five, held by Eddie Reeves and Tony Swink respectively are up for election.

The qualifying fee for mayor is $432 and for city council is $144. School board qualifying fee is $1.

Plainville

In Plainville, posts for Mayor, Council Posts One and Two are up for election. Incumbents are Mayor Sally Johnson, councilman for post one Ray Black, post two Greg Martin.

Qualifying fees for the mayor’s post is $25 and for each council post is $15.

Fairmount

Posts up for election in November are the Mayor’s post held by incumbent Harry Pierce, Council Post Two, held by Calvin Watts and Council Post Four, held by Linda Sledge Johnson. Fees for qualifying in the mayor’s race is $858. Qualifying for the council posts are $36.

Qualifying for Fairmount elections will be handled at Fairmount City Hall, not the Gordon County Voter Registration Office.

Resaca

Posts up for election are Mayor and Council Posts One and Two. Incumbent Mayor is Sam Allen and incumbents for the council posts are Jimmy Brown and Jean Makonis respectively. Fees are $147.60 for Mayor and $75.60 for council posts.

Voting information

Last day to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 11.

Absentee and early voting is Oct. 17 through Nov. 4 at the county voter registration office in the courthouse annex in downtown Calhoun, except for the city Fairmount, which will handle its own early and absentee voting.

Http://residentwatchdog.com/index.html You're Taxes are the highest they've ever been and sales taxes are going higher if WE keep renewing and VOTING IN NEW SPLOST! Our only option now is to VOTE NO and Vote Out Current Politicians! They are supposed to do what we want instead of them telling you and myself what and where they are going to BLOW OUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS! Please Vote No!
