Two teens who were arrested over the weekend on sexual assault charges were released from jail Wednesday night on a $20,000 bond while two other teens were not given bond and remained in jail.

Robert Darshawn Sharp, 17, of Valdosta, was charged with aggravated sexual battery. Jamel Marshawn Sharp, 17, of Valdosta; Dallas Kendrick Brown, 17, of Lawrenceville; and Kenny Thomson Mason, 17, of Valdosta, were all charged with being party to the crime of aggravated sexual battery. All four of the teenagers were also charged with simple battery.

Aggravated sexual battery is one of 11 charges where bond cannot be granted by a magistrate judge and must be heard before a superior court judge, said Phil Hart, court administrator for the Floyd County Superior Court.

A Floyd County Superior Court judge set bond for Mason and Brown Wednesday afternoon, and they were released about two hours later.

The Sharp brothers remained in jail.

The young men, two of them champion wrestlers, were in town for a wrestling camp at Shorter University in Rome and hosted by Team Georgia.

The school’s dorms were being rented, and Shorter spokeswoman Dawn Tolbert said the university was not affiliated with the event.

According to Floyd County Jail and Rome police records:

The alleged incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. Friday when three of the suspects are said to have held down a younger male while the fourth assaulted him with a toothbrush.

Police were called to the scene by a wrestling coach, who earlier in the evening had run the boys out of the dorm room, thinking they had been wrestling.

The coach called police after he overheard another group of boys talking about the incident later.

The victim told the coach that he and a group of boys had been playing when the boys held him down and Mason hit him. That group of boys left, and another group came in and held down his legs while he was assaulted.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution contributed to this report.

July 12 Update: Four teens arrested over the weekend on aggravated sexual battery charges remain in the Floyd County Jail. Bond has been denied for all four suspects.

Advice to parents, don't send your child to wrestling camp unless you want him to come back scarred for life. Seriously a toothbrush? I guess this whole "sport" thing of angry teenagers manhandling others in tights while forcing others to bend to their will hasn't affected these guys at all. Geeze Louise, I bet even the Spartans of ancient Greece would've threw-up to this. I think I'll stick to the fake wrestling with the drama and fireworks, and without the sodomy.
