Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Huie announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kathryn Marie, to John Birch Harrison, Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Birch Harrison, Sr., of Atlanta.



The future bride is the granddaughter of Dr. Robert E. Bridges of Gainesville, Georgia, the late Marie J. Bridges of Gainesville, Georgia, and the late Dr. and Mrs. H. Mark Huie of Decatur, Georgia. She is the sister of Mark Huie of Atlanta.



The bride-elect is a graduate of Calhoun High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Furman University in 2007. She will receive her Master of Arts in English Literature at Georgia State University in August and is currently completing coursework for her Doctor of Philosophy. She is a graduate teaching assistant at Georgia State, where she teaches English Composition and Business Writing.



The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Harrison of Macon, Georgia, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McArthur Brown of Macon. He is the brother of Kelly Harrison Teague of Atlanta.



The groom-elect attended Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Atlanta, Georgia, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Furman University in 2007. He is currently employed at Baldwin Paving in Marietta, Georgia, as a project manager.



The wedding will be held on August 13, 2011, at The Cliffs at Glassy Chapel in Landrum, South Carolina, with the reception following at Larkins on the River’s Wyche Pavilion in Greenville, South Carolina.
