The Gordon County Junior Dairy Judging team placed second place at the State Dairy Judging Contest held in Athens on Friday April the 8th. The team had to place three classes of Dairy Heifers and two classes of cows. They also gave oral reasons on why they placed a class a certain way. Making up the team were Marie Swims second high individual, Caleb Carr sixth, Cole Swims tenth and Brooke Carr. Gordon County’s senior team face some stiff competition, they finished fifth overall with only 60 points being between them and the first place team. All of the teams we compete against are from county’s that still have dairy’s, this is a big plus for them because it gives them a place to practice and prepare for the State contest. We travel to a dairy above Dalton or to Berry College for our team’s workouts. I am proud of our teams and the hard work they put in to get ready for the contest.
