The Calhoun Middle School Lady Jackets totaled 78.5 points for a dominating 42 point victory over Ashworth. The Sonoraville girls placed third with 22 points.
The Jacket boys totaled 63 points, edging out Ashworth by 11.5 points. The Phoenix again finished third with 22.5 points.
Tamia Wade and Blair Spector set the tone for Lady Jackets in the field events by tying for first place in the high jump. Both cleared a height of 4-08. Ashworth’s Nolan Swaim (third, 4-04), Destiny Reece (fourth, 4-02) and Calhoun’s Laura Carter (fourth, 4-02) also placed.
In the boys’ high jump Jacob Braden took first place for Ashworth by clearing a height of 5-06. Also placing were Calhoun’s Clay Grisham (second, 5-04), Ashworth’s Cody Banks (second, 5-04), Calhoun’s Olico Dennis (fourth, 5-00) and Sonoraville’s Carver (fourth, 5-00).
Spector and Wade finished first and second in the long jump with distances of 15-02 and 13-09.5. also placing were Ashworth’s Taylor Thomas (third, 13-06) and Calhoun’s Katerra Reynolds (fourth, 13-02).
The Ashworth duo of Austin Evens and Jacob Braden placed first and second respectively in the boys’ long jump with distances of 17-04 and 17-00.5. Also placing were Sonoraville’s Nance (third, 16-11.5) and White (fourth, 16-08.75).
The girls’ shot put was led by Ashworth’s Samantha Rogers, who cleared a distance of 25-00.5 also placing were Calhoun’s Ashia Johnson (second, 23-06), Ashworth’s Cameron Quinn (third, 22-09) and Sonoraville’s Jordon Baumgardner (fourth, 22-07).
Calhoun’s Truett Moss and Dustyn Harris took first and second respectively in the boys’ shot with distances of 37-00.5 and 36-09. Sonoraville’s Moore (third, 35-02) and Ashworth’s Dmitri Miller (fourth, 34-07.75) also placed.
Johnson added to her second place finish in the shot with a first place finish in the discus, beating her personal best by more than 10 feet (65-10). Also placing were Calhoun’s Payton Clark (second, 63-07), Ashworth’s Becky Worsham (third, 62-04) and Rogers (59-02).
Evans took first place in the boy’s discus with a throw of 119-08. Also placing were Harris (second, 111), Ashworth’s Calis Whaley (third, 96-09) and Ashworth’s Cody Banks (fourth, 96-00)
Swaim kicked off the track events with a first place finish in the 1600 with a time of 5:57.85. Also placing were Sonoraville’s Heather Ortiz (second, 6:08.07), Calhoun’s Erin Putnum (third, 6:08.5) and Sonoraville’s Katharine Farist (fourth, 6:49.45).
Ashworth’s Dakota Maddox and Miller took first and second respectively in the boys’ 1600 with times of 5:36.74 and 5:42.41. Also placing were Calhoun’s Jason Sosa (third, 5:45) and Ashworth’s Drake Bray (fourth, 5:52.12).
Wade led the 400 for Calhoun with a time of 1:05.81. Also placing were Sonoraville’s Katie Wells (second, 1:08.11), Calhoun’s Anna Fleming (third, 1:10.79) and Calhoun’s Eileen Lopez (fourth, 1:12.22).
Calhoun’s Paco Ramirez led the boys’ 400 with a time of 57.89. Also placing were Sonoraville’s White (second, 1:01.44), Banks (third, 1:01.50) and Sonoraville’s J. Torres (fourth, 1:03.79).
Sonoraville’s Kenzie Walraven won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.79. Also placing were Calhoun’s Reagan Passley (second, 13.85), Ashworth’s Ashley Bennett (third, 14.09) and Ashworth’s Madison Cloer (14.34).
Moss and Dennis took first and second respectively for Calhoun in the boys’ 100 with times of 12.13 and 12.18. Also placing were Ashworth’s Josh Ellerbee (third, 12.31) and Ashworth’s Austin Revels (fourth, 12.62).
Thomas won the girls’ 100-hurldes for Ashworth in a time of 18.18. Also placing were Calhoun’s Kyleigh Carney (second, 18.81), Clark (third, 19.92) and Sonoraville’s Maris Irick (fourth, 20.69).
Grisham led the boys’ 110-hurdles with a time of 17.91. Also placing were Sonoraville’s Mattila (second, 19.54), Calhoun’s Baylon Spector (third, 19.77) and Ashworth’s Austin Adcock (fourth, 19.88).
Ortiz placed first in the girls’ 800 with a time of 2:42.16. Putnum (second, 2:44.47), Calhoun’s Unique Sardeneta (third, 2:51), and Calhoun’s Karen Valencia (fourth, 2:52.96) also placed.
Ramirez placed first in the boys’ 800 with a time of 2:21.25. Also placing were Torres (second, 2:30.20), Bray (third, 2:32.51) and Sonoraville’s Miles (fourth, 2:37.06).
Blair Spector took first place in the 200 with a time of 28.38. Also placing were Passley (second, 28.69), Sonoraville’s Courtney Williams (third, 29.36), and Bennett (fourth, 29.40).
Dennis took first in the boys’ 200 in a time of 25.21. Also placing were Evans (second, 25.52), Nance (third, 26.69) and Ashworth’s Ralston Gardner (fourth, 27.02).
Baylon Spector won the boys’ 300-hurdles in a time of 52.31. Also placing were Sonoraville’s Teague (second, 52.69), Calhoun’s Desmond Printup (third, 54.72) and Miles (fourth, 54.98).
The Calhoun “A” teams took both first place finishes in the boys’ and girls’ 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay. Ashworth’s “A” teams took second place in all four events to place.
