The most recent weekend storm that struck the Gordon County area left serious damage to Gordon Central High School’s baseball field — leaving it unusable.

Gordon Central’s Senior Day game against LFO on Tuesday has now been moved to Sonoraville High School’s baseball field at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex. Start time is 5:30 p.m.

Deron Walraven, head baseball coach, said the storm will affect home baseball games and the team will not be able to use the field for the remainder of the season.

“It took the bleachers up and brought them through the net and (they)are now sitting on home plate,” Walraven said.

In addition to the bleachers being lifted from the stands, the outfield fence sustained heavy damage, as well as the softball field fence.

“We only have one other home game and it’s the region playoff game. We don’t know exactly when it will be, but we won’t be able to play it at home,” Walraven said.

The location and date of that game will be announced later this week.
