ATLANTA (AP) — The National Weather Service says people in north Georgia should prepare for high winds and thunderstorms.

Commuters encountered spring-like conditions early Monday, but the weather service says a new system is about to move in with high winds in the afternoon followed by thunderstorms in the evening. The weather service says some of the storms could be severe.

Highs are expected in the 80s for much of north Georgia on Monday, dropping into the 40s at night.

The rain is expected to end by Tuesday morning, with much cooler weather expected. Temperatures should rebound later in the week.
