UPDATE: Plane crashes on McDaniel Station Road

A small planed crashed around 5:30 p.m. Friday in Calhoun.

According to Chief Deputy Robert Paris, a small plane crashed in a farm pasture on McDaniel Station Road, and the pilot was injured but conscious and removed by ambulance to the Floyd Medical Center.The identity of the pilot has not been released.

According to a report from the Gordon County Sheriff's Office:

The plane was an ultralight or experimental, small aircraft, and, according to witnesses, the plane was sputtering just before the crash. The plane landed in muddy ground which was clear of trees, according to deputies, which may have lessened the crash impact.
