A measure would allow schools to choose whether they want to offer traditional math classes or stick with a blended curriculum put in place in 2008. The blended curriculum mixes lessons on algebra, geometry and statistics into one course.
The new curriculum has drawn ire from parents and students who say it's too confusing and outrage from teachers who say they weren't given enough training on teaching it. But others say many students are flourishing under the new classes and allowing schools to choose would only cause problems.
They said the state should give the blended curriculum more time to see if it's working.
The board is expected to vote Monday.
