According to the National Weather Service (NWS), there is a flood watch starting Wednesday morning and ending Thursday afternoon for northwest Georgia.

Gordon County should expect showers and a few thunderstorms with moderate to heave rainfall to move in early Wednesday morning. Rainfall should average around 2-3 inches.

According to the NWS report, "The soil across north Georgia is saturated from recent rainfall. The additional expected rainfall will result in considerable runoff into area rivers, creeks and streams."

A flood watch means that there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
