The SMS Phoenix baseball team (2-0) hosted Adairsville (2-1) on Monday in what would turn out to be a three inning mercy-rule game.

After the Phoenix retired the Tigers in order in the top of the 1st, it didn't take long for the scoring to start in the bottom half of the inning.

Pat Thurman led off with a walk, and then stole second and third. Thad Harris doubled to score Thurman for the game's first run.

Drew Wilson then provided a two run blast over the left-center fence to give Sonoraville a 3-0 lead.

Twelve players contributed offensively by providing a hit, run scored, or RBI. They include Thurman, Zack Collum, Brandon Dendy, Harris, Wilson, Griff Bryant, Clark Johnson, Cal King, Bryson Peace, Brevin Harris, Tanner Sanderson, and Easton Gallmon.

The game was called in the bottom of the 3rd when the Phoenix took a 15-0 lead.

Thad Harris picked up the win with a no-hit complete game. He struck out six of the nine batters he faced.

The Phoenix will play Ashworth today at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex.
