SMYRNA, Ga. (AP) — The FBI says a retired minister was arrested at his home in Smyrna on federal child pornography charges.

FBI spokesman Stephen Emmett said Thursday that 71-year-old Albert Turnell Jr. was charged with possession and distribution of child pornography. He was arrested with the help of the Smyrna Police Department.

Turnell is a former pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Smyrna.

Emmett says Turnell will have his first court appearance before a U.S. magistrate judge Thursday. The case was investigated by the FBI's Innocent Images Task Force and the GBI's Internet Crimes Against Children Task
