Ringgold police are investigating an armed robbery that took place Friday when police say a suspect held up a pharmacist and stole prescription drugs.

Around 2:20 a.m., police responded to the armed robbery call from CVS Pharmacy at 4825 Battlefield Parkway.

A store employee told officer Brad Palmer that at about 2 a.m. a white male entered the store with a hood over his head “looking very suspicious.” The male walked back to the pharmacy area behind the counter and demanded that the pharmacist give him all the OxyContin, a painkiller.

According the police report, a brief struggle ensued between the robber and pharmacist. The robber pulled out a box cutter and threatened the pharmacist. The pharmacist complied and opened the safe. The offender grabbed 5 to 8 bottles of prescriptions and fled.

According to witnesses, the robber ran across Old Mill Road, where someone in a car was waiting for him. The robber got into the passenger side. The vehicle, a red older-model Ford Mustang with a rear spoiler, crossed Battlefield Parkway and headed south on Old Mill Road.

The robber was described as a white male, 18-26 years old, clean-shaven, 6-feet to 6-feet-2-inches tall, and 240-270 pounds. He was wearing a gray hoodie with a black strip across the chest and blue jeans.

Witnesses described him as moving “very slow” and lethargic, which they said could be because of a problem with his leg or a limp.
