The Sonoraville JV boys’ basketball team defeated Ashworth Tuesday night by a score of 41-22. The Phoenix provided a balanced scoring attack led by Tristan Key with 11 points and Hayden Bunch with nine. Joseph Potts played a solid game and contributed six points. Rounding out the scoring was Austin Carter with three; Tyler Bowers, Brad Wilson, Jake Vess, Jacob Worsham and Dylan Dixon with two each. Sherrod Agee and Kenny Cooper each chipped in one from the free throw line.
In the nightcap, the Varsity boys’ used a smothering defense to stifle Ashworth and completed the sweep with a 33-12 victory. Balanced scoring was the key with Pat Thurman leading the way with nine points, followed by Drew Wilson with six; while Junior Solis and Cal King chipped in with five each. Clark Johnson, Tavian Reynolds, Conner Balistreri, and Tanner Sanderson knocked in two points apiece to round out the scoring.
