House GOP Lists $2.5 Trillion in Spending Cuts

Moving aggressively to make good on election promises to slash the federal budget, the House GOP today unveiled an eye-popping plan to eliminate $2.5 trillion in spending over the next 10 years. Gone would be Amtrak subsidies, fat checks to the Legal Services Corporation and National Endowment for the Arts, and some $900 million to run President Obama's healthcare reform program.

What's more, the "Spending Reduction Act of 2011" proposed by members of the conservative Republican Study Committee, chaired by Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, would reduce current spending for non-defense, non-homeland security and non-veterans programs to 2008 levels, eliminate federal control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, cut the federal workforce by 15 percent through attrition, and cut some $80 billion by blocking implementation of Obamacare.

Some of the proposed reductions will surely draw Democratic attack, such as cutting the Ready to Learn TV Program, repeal of the Davis-Bacon Act, the elimination of the Energy Star Program, and cutting subsidies to the Woodrow Wilson Center.

Hitler is a very poor example. I don't think Wikipedia is a very reliable source anyhow. Anyone can add to, or delete from that site. He was mentally disturbed, and his actions do not represent the feelings or actions of the Christian world. There are extremists on both ends of the spectrum. All of the frivolous spending needs to stop on both sides. At least Bohner gave up the private jet that Pelosi has been flying around in, and has also denounced earmarks for his entire political career. I know that alone will not solve the problem, however it is a step in the right direction, and an example to follow.

Here's a Wiki on Hitler's Christianity (or lack thereof)

Hitler expressed admiration for the Muslim military tradition and directed Himmler to initiate Muslim SS Divisions as a matter of policy. According to Nazi-era Minister of Armaments and War Production Albert Speer, Hitler stated in private, "The Mohammedan religion too would have been much more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?"

Mommy,

So, just because someone claims to be "Christian", they automatically "have a heart"? I could tell you how foolish that assumption is, but you just wouldn't get it. Before you start a response to this comment, please begin it by telling me how big of a heart that Christian, Hitler, had. And how all the Christian murders, rapists, etc. do not exist or have been wrongly accused.

Heck, if they wanna do it right they gotta add the defense budget. Have you seen how much is thrown at them? Where does it all really go?

Homeland "Security" is crap too. A whole department made when everybody was runnin scared of "the terrorists." Now we have all this "enhanced search" crap at the airport where they can look at your junk through your clothes or get the special treatment if you don't go in the machine. In then end it's for nothing but show.

The Republicans have gone and put all these "cuts" they want to see disappear and they know they won't get a quarter of them. It's all for show or they know they'll pass the buck on to the states. And they'll ignore the stuff they like that most likely needs to be cut.

Democrats aren't any better either. They have their pet projects they'll fight over and even if anything gets past them when they don't dontrol Congress, they got the Prez up top with his veto stamp. Even as they try n make stuff they don't like go away.

So the heck with both parties. All they want is the peons happy and/or distracted while they get what they want, which is their cut.

So you all go on with your small-minded Libs/Dems vs. Cons/Repub stupidity. That way the only winners here are the ones with the power and money. And they'll have a laugh at how asinine you all are.

@ugotteabaggedbyme That is hilarious! All the liberal left can do is follow the "laim stream media" and puppet the attacks against the right, because they all know that the ship is sinking. LOL @standupforopenminds Most conservatives are Christians so we do have hearts. We just want some fiscal responsibility. A lot of money has been wasted by both sides. We do have the power to repeal health care legislation, as well as all of the other wasteful programs that will aid and abet our current entitlement based society. Progressive thinking (politically speaking) is scary business. I just hope you are doing your own research, and not just drinking the koolaid, and believe everything you are hearing on television.

Just more BS posturing by the nutty right. They do not have the power to make these cuts alone any more than they can stop the national health care plan from taking effect which means they are wasting time and money. If you would bother to learn how our government works you would know how much money they are wasting that could be spent feeding the hungry and caring for the indigent. God save me from the ignorant right, I may be a bleeding heart but at least I have one unlike the tea baggers.
