Jim Stewart, plant manager, told Bartow County business leaders in Adairsville that the first shipment of specialty aluminum product went to Universal Alloy in Canton, Georgia.
Vista Metals is based in Fontana California and just completed the renovation of a former concrete plant 800 MLK Jr. Drive in Adairsville for its first plant in the southeast. Stewart said the company currently has 22 employees and has plants to expand up to 60.
The Cartersville/Bartow County Chamber of Commerce Adairsville Council learned on Thursday, Jan. 6 that Adairsville Allstate insurance owner Lisa Cowart had acquired the Calhoun Allstate office and was consolidating the two insurance portfolios at the Adairsville location.
Cowart has owned the agency in northern Bartow County for the past 14 months.
The Adairsville area is also getting a new commercial and residential glass company, GranView Glass, owned by Anthony Fried and Jack Harris.
“We’re waiting to get a few jobs under our belt before we settle on a permanent location,” Fried said. The company is currently being run out of his home. “We’ll do jobs any-where,” Harris said.
Chamber President Kay Read told the group that the Chamber was hosting a special session with Commissioner Clarence Brown and the mayors of all seven cities in Bartow County at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 to discuss both long and short-term challenges and infrastructure needs in their respective communities.
