With the help of local homeowners, business sponsors, and Tour of Homes guests, the local Kiwanis Club recently raised $3,000 to help local kids pursue their educational dreams.

“We are extremely grateful to Willie and Buddy Ables, Susan and James Hyde, Anandi and Kamlesh Patel, and Dilip and Pinky Patel for opening their homes to the public for this year’s Tour of Homes,” commented Wesley Roach, Kiwanis Club president. “Without the gracious hospitality of these couples we could not have had such a successful event.”

The Kiwanis Club raises money for a variety of causes that benefit children in Gordon County, but the money raised from the Tour of Homes is earmarked for college scholarships. Last year, the club gave out five $1,000 scholarships to seniors from Calhoun High School, Georgia-Cumberland Academy and Gordon Central High School.

Tour of Homes chairperson, Nancy Gerard added her words of thanks. “I would like to express my gratitude to all who helped make our Tour of Homes a success this year. Our generous sponsors, hospitable homeowners, guests who attended and Kiwanis members who helped were the partners in this team effort for our kids.”
