For her dedicated service and commitment to Gordon Hospital, Henrietta McClure was named Volunteer of the Year recently at Gordon Hospital.

Marsha McDaniel, auxiliary coordinator, presented McClure with the award at the annual Gordon Hospital Auxiliary Banquet held recently at The Red Door Café.

“I am very pleased to present this award to Henrietta,” McDaniel said. “Not only does she serve as a hospital volunteer, but she is also a volunteer chaplain. She is truly a wonderful asset to our Auxiliary and to Gordon Hospital.”

After McDaniel welcomed the volunteers and guests to the banquet, a prayer was offered by Judy Jackson, director of development services for Gordon Hospital. Following the dinner, entertainment was provided by guitarist and soloist Rebecca Owen.

Pete Weber, president and CEO of Gordon Hospital, expressed his appreciation to the volunteers prior to the award presentations.

“We are so grateful for all of the work that you do,” he said. “Gordon Hospital is blessed to have each of you sharing your time and talents.”

Also during the banquet the auxiliary members elected officers for the coming year. The officers are Karen Kniss, president; Wesley Davenport, co-vice president; Elaine Patterson, co-vice-president; Jane Cochran, secretary/treasurer; and Jim Lay, parliamentarian.

Forty hospital volunteers, eight chaplain volunteers, and seven Encounter Navigators were presented certificates of appreciation for their service. Hospital volunteers honored at the banquet included Kathryn Allen, Mary Bunch, Jeannette Borgerson, Jodi Brumlow, Doris Bush, Kim Carter, Carolyn Childress, Celia Clemons, Jane Cochran, Rita Collins, Wesley Davenport, Doris DeFoor, Betty Erwin, Jamie Eubanks, Hazel Fouts, Eleanor Frost, Jo Holcomb, Patsy Holcomb, Donna Hooper, Grace Kelly, Karen Kniss, Nancy Kuhlemeier, James W. Lay, Mary Simpson Lehmann, Joan Mayer, Henrietta McClure, Jana Moore, Margaret Painter, Elaine Patterson, Bill Rathbun, Alpha Rutledge, Pat Schand, Susan Scott, JoAnn Shropshire, Neta Smith, JoAnn Vatter, Ann Walters, Alice Williamson, Faye Worley and Marie Worley.

Chaplain volunteers honored at the banquet included Janie Aker, James Collins, Mary Green, Glenda Hayward, Mary Simpson Lehmann, Henrietta McClure, Susan Nichols and Glenn Smith.

Encounter Navigators honored included: Bruce Borgerson, Celia Clemons, Ivan Hansen, Margie King, Phil Robbins, John Russell and Don Starkey.
