When the GEM Theater opens this spring, John and Elizabeth Shivers of Calhoun will have a special seat. They are the lucky winners of the Friends of the GEM theater seat raffle.

The win entitles the Shivers to an everlasting memento of a personalized plaque on the theater seat of their choice. They have elected to share the win with family by honoring their grandchildren, Grant and Lillie Lewis, on the seat.

“Growing up, I spent many happy hours at the theater,” said John Shivers. “The GEM renovation is providing us the opportunity for many more good times in that location. Elizabeth and I chose to honor our grandchildren with the seat, since they are the next generation that will know and use the GEM.”

GEM Theater seats are available for $500 and include a plaque with the purchaser’s inscription of choice and the option to select the seat location.

For those that purchased raffle tickets and did not win, buy a theater seat before December 31 and the amount you spent on raffle tickets will be deducted from the $500. Anyone that purchases a seat before the end of this year will receive two tickets to see a classic movie at the GEM.
