According to a statement from the Calhoun Police Department, Christy Myranda Hardin-Simerly, 20, was charged with simple battery for spinning the elderly lady around in a wheel chair several times after she was asked to stop.
The officers were also advised that Simerly had placed ice down the victim’s back.
Detective’s conducted an investigation into then matter and determined Simerly, who worked as a certified nursing assistance at the nursing home, had in-fact assaulted the victim in a manner that met the criteria for a charge to be issued against her.
“After interviewing everyone involved, it appears this incident started out as a prank, however once the victim voiced a complaint, the offender was obligated to stop her actions. She (Simerly) continued until the physical contact became insulting and of a provoking nature to the victim” said public information officer Lt. Tony Pyle.
