A simple prank turned into police matter when a 20-year-old nursing assistant from Adairsville did not stop her prank after an 83-year-old patient of Calhoun Health Care asked her to stop.

According to a statement from the Calhoun Police Department, Christy Myranda Hardin-Simerly, 20, was charged with simple battery for spinning the elderly lady around in a wheel chair several times after she was asked to stop.

The officers were also advised that Simerly had placed ice down the victim’s back.

Detective’s conducted an investigation into then matter and determined Simerly, who worked as a certified nursing assistance at the nursing home, had in-fact assaulted the victim in a manner that met the criteria for a charge to be issued against her.

“After interviewing everyone involved, it appears this incident started out as a prank, however once the victim voiced a complaint, the offender was obligated to stop her actions. She (Simerly) continued until the physical contact became insulting and of a provoking nature to the victim” said public information officer Lt. Tony Pyle.

If she is convicted of the charges, the punishment should be to handcuff her to a wheelchair and let the residents wear out their walkers and canes on her.Make her wear a urine and feces soaked diaper on her head while they do it,and then force her to sit thru a whole session of bingo.

Seriously? Take a little more time to interview and check around on people before hiring them. Too many times these things are done quickly just to have a 'warm body' to help out. Call references, do background checks, talk at length with these people and find out what they're really like. For God's sake, they are caring for (or torturing) our precious seniors, make sure you get the right people for the job!
