The Kiwanis Christmas Tour of Homes will be held this year on Sunday, Dec. 5, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

Three spacious homes in the Timber Ridge Subdivision plus a very unique and lovely cottage-style home on Red Bud Road will be open to ticket holders.

The four homes on the Tour this year are James and Susan Hyde’s home at 2842 Red Bud Road NE, Buddy and Willie Ables’ home at 154 Timber Ridge Lane, Kamlesh and Anandi Patel’s home at 149 Timber Ridge Lane, and Dilip and Pinky Patel’s home at 115 Timber Ridge Drive.

The five-year-old home of Kamlesh and Anandi Patel, built by Thomas Greeson, is all-American in its size, floor plan, architecture and amenities.

On entering the home, one’s attention is immediately drawn to the soaring, domed living room ceiling, finished in a beautiful faux paint treatment.

But the visitor quickly becomes aware of a lovely, exotic feel to the home that provides a subtle connection to this family’s homeland.

Here and there furnishings from India appear. Beautiful, intricately crafted Indian rugs adorn the floors.

Indian silk window treatments decorate the windows. Yes, you are still in Calhoun, Georgia. But there is definitely a slight touch of India in this lovely home.

The kitchen, with its travertine floors and dark woods, flows into a sitting area and the dining room.

This is the heart of the home where Annie (Anandi) prepares her wonderful Indian meals for the family and guests.

Nearby you will find the intimate, private place of worship – the family’s private Hindu temple - where family members say their daily prayers.

On the main floor is also found the living room, powder room with gold leaf paint treatment, the serene master bedroom suite and the home office.

The office is striking with its dark walls, unusual wall papered ceiling and antique maps. The master bedroom, with coffered ceiling, dark beams and a color scheme of blue, tan and browns provides an elegant and restful retreat.

The second floor contains the boys’ bedrooms decorated in rich, masculine colors, a guestroom decorated with delicate Indian silks, a theatre room, and a playroom.

The Patel’s home, along with three other fabulous residences, will delight Tour of Homes ticketholders this year.

Tickets are $20 each and are available at the following locations: BB&T Bank, Century Bank, Chamber of Commerce, Harris Arts Center, North Georgia National Bank, and WJTH Radio Station. Tickets may also be purchased from any Kiwanis member.
