YOUNG HARRIS– Young Harris College freshman music major Shelby Brown, clarinet, of Calhoun, will perform at the Jazz Band and Pep Band concert Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium of the Clegg Fine Arts Building on the Young Harris College campus. Brown is a graduate of Sonoraville High School.

The YHC Jazz Band, directed by Benny P. Ferguson, Ph.D., dean of the Division of Fine Arts, and the YHC Pep Band, directed by Senior Instructor of Music and Director of Bands Mary Land, will team up to present an evening of great instrumental music.

The newly formed Pep Band will perform a contemporary mix of songs including “Bad Romance” and “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga, “I Feel Good” by James Brown and “Purple Rain” by Prince and the Revolution. The group will also perform the new “YHC Fight Song” that will be played during the men’s and women’s basketball home games for the teams’ inaugural season.

The Jazz Band program will include the hit song “Summertime,” the swing tune “Things Ain’t What They Used To Be” and “In the Mood,” a traditional big band favorite made famous by the Glenn Miller Band.
