The city of Calhoun’s directors of finance were honored recently for superior performance in financial reporting.

A letter to the city from the General Finance Officers Association informed General Government Director of Finance Alicia Stewart and Utilities Director of Finance Andrea Bramlett that they received the CAFR (Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting).

“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” the letter stated. “We hope that your example will encourage other government officials in their efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting.”

“The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure,’” the letter stated.
