United Way of Gordon County once again needs community members’ support to help friends, neighbors, and in some cases family members. These unprecedented times have the 19 agencies in Gordon County working hard to meet the many needs that are the result of this recession.

Since January, the Voluntary Action Center has provided food for more than 8,000 individuals. The number of homeless individuals and families continues to grow. This year, 107 individuals have been housed in emergency shelters and the need for more funds to house families with children is growing.

The goal for this year’s campaign is $500,000. United Way has received or has pledges in the amount of $142,980.88. That is about 28 percent of the goal. Please join with the generous contributors listed below and send your tax deductible contribution to United Way of Gordon County P.O. Box 486 Calhoun, Ga. 30703.

If individual names are to be listed, all the Shaw Employees, Bentley, etc who donated deserve their names out there too. May be a long list, but they are the ones that gave.
