Cook inducted into Sigma Alpha

Deidra Ann Cook of Calhoun was recently recognized a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization at the University of Georgia. Sigma Alpha Lambda is a national organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development and lifelong professional fulfillment.

High schoolers tour KSU

Sonoraville High School students toured Kennesaw State University this past week.  Each grade level has the opportunity to visit at least one college campus as part of the S.A.V.E. program, funded by the Georgia Appalachian Center for Higher Education (GACHE), to increase graduation and post-secondary attendance rates.

Local student places in state poster contest

Ember Milstead, a fourth grader at Red Bud Elementary School, recently placed third in the state bus safety poster contest. The theme this year is “Be Aware-Know the Danger Zone!”

Red Bud rocks the can drive

Red Bud Elementary School staff and students brought in more than $4,800 canned goods for the Voluntary Action Center during Red Ribbon Week. Mr. Harper’s second grade class brought in $1,050 cans alone, and they received a pizza party for their efforts.
