Vera was born on January 9, 1936 in Floyd County. She was the daughter of the late James William Van Dyke and Edna Carter Van Dyke. Vera was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of the Oostanaula Community. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Clifford Gilbert Carver; two daughters: Melinda Diane Parks and Brenda Carver; one son, Wayne Carver; and three brothers: Charles Van Dyke, James Van Dyke and Howard Van Dyke.
Survivors include: one daughter, Kimberly Carver of Sugar Valley; one brother, Earl Van Dyke of Calhoun; one sister, Margaret Mulky of Plainville; four grandchildren: Tammy Couch, Dewayne Couch, Tony Couch and Shelly Carver; seven great-grandchildren: Cody Couch, David Couch, Tiffany Couch, Haley Couch, Morgan Couch, Hannah Jaco and Taylor Jaco; and three great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 8 from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Hall and the Rev. James Collins officiating. Burial followed in Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Gary Stanfield, Jimmy Stanfield, Billy Wiseman, Terry Van Dyke, Brody Rutledge and Billy Couch.
Nephews served as Honorary Pallbearers.
The family received friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7 at the funeral home.
