Mr. Ellis was born in Adairsville, November 11, 1937, son of the late Bradley and Nettie Cochran Ellis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from First Brand in Cartersville, and of the Christian Faith. Mr. Ellis loved classic cars and collecting Cushman scooters. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Carolyn McCullough Ellis; 3 sisters, Rilla Johnston, Eloise Ellis, and Janie Mealor; a brother, Bill Ellis and a niece and nephew, Debbie Lynn Gowan and Lewis Johnston.
He is survived by two nieces, Jill and Chris Brown of Calhoun and Pam and Tony Daniel of Calhoun; three nephews, Ronnie and Donna Mealor of Sacramento, Calif., Larry and Courtney Mealor of Adairsville, Jerry and Bobbi Johnston of Rome ; great niece and nephews, Katie Dohrmann, Seth King, and Ryan Brown; great-great niece, Annabell King.
Funeral services was held Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Min. Danny Pelfrey and Rev. Jim Pinkard officiating. Interment followed in Eastview Cemetery, Adairsville. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 p.m.
Pallbearers included Steve Morgan, Darryl Hyde, Chris Brown, Ryan Brown, Seth King, Merrill Landrum, Larry Mealor, Jimmy King, George Huskins and David McClure.
