Mrs. Opal Chamlee, 82, of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at her residence. She was a native of Gordon County, born on March 14, 1930 to the late Thomas Brownlow Foster and the late Nellie Bell Harper Foster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Chamlee on December 12, 2012; and a brother, Fred Foster.

Opal was employed with Calhoun First National Bank, and later BB&T for many years. She was a member of the New Town Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Ayers and her husband Wendell of Gray, Ga., and Charmaine Conley of Gainesville; a sister, Orazell Gilbert of Calhoun; grandsons, Eric Ayers, Sr., Michael Ayers, Sr., and Garrison Conley; a granddaughter, Faith Sapp; and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Opal Chamlee will be held Friday, March 1 at 1 p.m. from the New Town Baptist Church, with Rev. Walter Hare officiating. Music will be arranged by Bobby and Nancy McFry. Active pallbearers will include Eric Ayers Sr., Eric Ayers, Jr., Garrison Conley, Brian Gilbert, Jeff Gilbert, and Gary Hancock. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park.

The family received friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
