He was born on November 27, 1943 in Bremen, Ga. to the late Jerry L. and Florya M. Collins. Kent lived in Calhoun for the past six years, moving from the Carrollton and Bremen area in 2006. He worked as a manager of several bowling alleys in Georgia and Florida as well as the radio industry, as a disc jockey and news reporter in the Bremen area.
Kent was very active in the Catholic Church and was most recently a member of Saint Clements Catholic Church in Calhoun. He was a 4th Degree Knight since 1975, serving as Chancellor of Council 9339 of the Knights of Columbus in Calhoun, District Warden of District 17 of Northwest Georgia, Mass Captain at Saint Clements Catholic Church and formerly as Grand Knight of Council 9731 in Carrollton. Kent was also a 30 year annual visitor to Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Monastery in Conyers, Ga.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Cheryl Collins of Ellijay, Ga.; three nieces, five grand nephews and three grand nieces.
A memorial service is planned for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, at Saint Clements Catholic Church in Calhoun.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Monastery, 2625 Highway 212 SW, Conyers, GA 30094.
