Mrs. Evelyn Effie Wilene Gravley, 72, of Calhoun died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at her residence following a year and a half of declining health. She was born in Gordon County on August 30, 1939, daughter of the late Claude Wyatt and the late Ruby Davis Pierce. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gravley; a son, Donald Gravley; and two grandchildren, Daniel Gravley and Jesse Gravley.

She had been employed with Huddle House, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son, Jackie Gravley and Tabitha Day of Calhoun; three daughters, Teresa Gravley and Joe Smith of Calhoun, Janice Fulenwider and her husband J.D. of Logan, Ala., and Janice Bradshaw and her husband Jesse of Calhoun; three brothers, Jimmy Davis and his wife Dawn of Calhoun, Lamar Wyatt and his wife Sarah of Chatsworth, and Rufus Wyatt of Calhoun; and three sisters, Lynda Avery and Wanda Davis of Calhoun, and Lois Cochran of Alabama. Grandchildren surviving are Jimmy Gravley, Donald Gravley, Jason Gravley, Gary Smith, Patrick Fulenwider, Justin Fowler, Zack Fowler, Jonathan Smith, Jeffery Smith, Shasta Gravley, Tia Shelton, Haley Land, and Lavonda Gravley. A host of great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Effie Wilene Gravley were held Friday, August 3 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Jackie Culberson officiating. Interment followed in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers included Patrick Fulenwider, Jonathan Bradley, Roger Rigney, Charlie Hughes, Henery Garvis, and Joe Smith. These gentlemen were requested to assemble at the funeral home Friday at 12:15 p.m. Honorary pallbearers were Jackie Gravley, Jimmy Gravley, Jason Gravley, and Donald Gravley.

The Gravley family received friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 5-9 p.m.
