Elizabeth was born on December 30, 1920 in Gordon County. She was the daughter of the late Nunally Barnette and Mable Fite Barnette. She was a charter member of the Belmont Baptist Church and would have celebrated her 92nd birthday on December 30. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Hughdon Dodd; brothers and sisters: Rev. Fite Barnette, Edwin Barnette, Betty Barnette, Lucy Barnette, Swea Barnette and Guss Barnette.
Survivors include: her adopted children: Alvin and Pat Long, and David and Virginia Patterson; one brother, Bill Barnette and his wife Nan; sister, Johnnie Barnette all of Calhoun; two sisters in laws; Audrey and Bernice Barnette, three grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 22 from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. John Allen officiating. Burial followed in Fain Cemetery.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
The family received friends Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday, December 22.
