Mrs. Dorothy Glenda Bowen, 79, of Resaca, passed away suddenly Monday, December 24, 2012 at Gordon Hospital. She was a life-long resident of Gordon County, born on July 15, 1933 to the late William Clay Sisson and the late Doshia Hayes Sisson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Bowen, Jr.; a son, David Anthony Bowen; and brothers and sisters, I.V. Owen, Gladys Dixon, Hazel Ruggero, Ray Sisson, and Richard Sisson.

Mrs. Bowen was a graduate of Resaca High School, a member of the basketball team, and Valedictorian of her senior class. She was retired from Gordon Health Care after 20 years of employment, and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Angela Cooper of Resaca; a sister, Faye Lance and her husband Franklin of Resaca; grandchildren, Anthony Fox and his wife Mandy, Mark Fox, and Kevin Fox; great-grandchildren, Ashton Fox, Graysen Fox, and Danica Fox; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Glenda Bowen were held Thursday, December 27 at 2 p.m. from the Mount Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Calvin Anderson and Rev. Ron Bankson officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Sanford Sisson, Gary Owen, Kenneth Sisson, Jason Ponder, Gary Holbert, and Lamar Fox.

The Bowen family received friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
